The first item is a lovely picture postcard from Khar'kov on a formular card from the issue of 1889-1890 (H&G 13). The front is to the left and the reverse to the right. Click on a picture to see a larger image. The reverse is of great interest. The postmarks indicate this postcard was mailed in 1892, which is much earlier than the official "rules" say is possible. Enlarge the reverse to see this. If the "rules" are correct, then we must assume the postal clerk set his device incorrectly on this one.

The second example shows a formular card from the issue of 1886 (H&G 5). On the front is a greetings from Robert Ball in Riga wishing you a Happy New Year for 1894. Click to enlarge.

The nest example is one of the cards that was approved for use in 1895. The card was posted in May 1896. Bill says he has three of the six and I hope to get the other two to illustrate as well in the future. Click to enlarge.

The final example is a lovely postcard showing the All Russian Exhibition of 1896 in Nizhni Novgorod. It was used in August 1896. Click to enlarge.
