Moscow Foreign Dispatch Office

Gary - 2/17/2007 at 08:23

One of the more difficult to find postmarks of the Moscow post is the Foreign Dispatch Office shown here. So far, the recorded dates of the Dispatch Office for the Receipt and Dispatch of Foreign Correspondence are March-June 1904. We associate this mark with the 4th Dispatch Office at present.

The postcard was processed by the Moscow Town-Post Dispatch Office on 10 April 1904 at 8 o'clock and passed through the Foreign Dispatch Office on the same day.

We are looking for more examples to either confirm the date of use or expand it. Please post examples here, if you feel comfortable doing that. If not, please send scans as email attachments to me.

Thanks in advance

Here is a reg'd letter 8/6/04 to Muenchen (receiver on back).
I also have three cards: 13/4/04, 14/4/03, 11/5/04 all to France.

There is also an x-date cancel that says Ek. Pr. Pos, also 1904. Don't know if that is the same office or not. These I have on a couple of loose 7 R arms, so I would
think they were used on money orders or parcel cards..

David, very nice thanks! Can we see the one from 1903? That would clearly extend the range.

Gary -- here is the item, but I have to apologize for
the typo. It is 14/4/1904. I don't have a 1903 example.

Another excellent example. Still looking for one to expand the range.
