The Samovar

Ukraine cover

Hello all,

I would be interested in the history of this cover and if possible to have the answers to this 3 questions::
1) Is possible to have a translation of what is written on the front?
2) Is normal that it took +1 month to arrive.
3) The usage of different series is common?

Thanks for your time.

1) The cover is addressed to Odessa, to Pushkin Street, the office of "Triangle", for Viktor Eduardovich Verter.
3) yes, the use of different series is not uncommon. The correct rate was 85k and that is correctly franked.
2) Well, you'd have to see what was going on in that corner of Ukraine during this period. This was sent a week after the WW1 Armistice, so you have German troops withdrawing, and local forces making life complicated. Kherson province was where Ataman Grigoriev was active and December 1918 was exactly when he was making a pest of himself. So some trouble with postal connections is to be expected.
