E Bay forgery

cec71 - 3/10/2017 at 15:05

This forgery recently was sold on E Bay. I have compared it to a genuine 100-70 R pair. It was returned to the seller with the winning bid and postage promptly refunded.

The bidding was vigorous closing price was about $235.00

Would not be surprised if it reappears in the future.

As I understand it, there was one 70k in the pane of 25, third row, 2nd stamp. This fake slaps a crude copy onto the 2nd(?) row, but it looks like the original was in fact the correct block of 25,
because there is a 70k in what looks like the 3rd or 4th row. Why would anyone do this to a
perfectly good block? I would say "Sad!" but do not wish to quote.

I superimposed the forged 100-7- above the genuine 100-70 pair on the pane of 25 to highlight the differences. The genuine pane remains virginal.
