Zemstvo overprint forgeries
Although not in my field, I have examined a number of
Zemstvo double prints and double impressions sold on
eBay to one of our member. The initial printing in
each case was genuine and thus the stamp itself was
genuine. The stamps had been scanned and the scan
printed over the genuine stamp as the printing media
thus creating either double impessions or double
prints depending upon the degree of displacement. In
each of the three cases the second printing differed
slightly but perceptably in colour. More importantly
magnification at 260 x showed a clear breakup of the
second digital printing throughout whilst the original
genuine printing showed only fibre interuptions. ( I
am sure Anatoly will oblige with scans of the stamps
for inclusion).

I don't know if I am the Anatoly to oblige with scans...
Again, it would be very useful to hear the names of those involved, unless they don't constent. Thanks. Anatoly
