Could it happen that Russtian post accepted mail from Japanise post and canceled it also? One additional thing is. Japanise postmark date is Nov 1. Russian postmark date equals Nov 16 in Japan so ship cancellation was made 15 days later. May be it is possible to find ship schedule.

As I was told by competent people, a dangerous forger is now working in Moscow who, however, makes sometimes mistakes as in this case. I have also read recently an article in a Russian philatelic journal (unfortunately, I did not wrote down the reference) about another well-made fake of a Lena river steamship cancel that could be unmasked only by the date: the forger put in a winter month when no navigation was possible there!
