Revalued Arms type stamps
Hi - can someone provide references for dates the Imperial arms type stamps were revalued? My notes (I do not have the source of my notes - my bad)
show that the 1 - 14 kop were revalued to rubles on Mar 10, 1920, the 15 and 20 kop were revalued to rubles on Dec 10, 1920 and the 25 kop to 70 kop
were revalued to rubles on April 8, 1920.
However I've been told by a very knowledgable person that ONLY the 1 - 14 kop stamps were revalued. Which is correct?
Thanks,
Randy

Randy,
according to a variety of sources (Lobachevski, Zagorskiy, etc), the use of imperial Arms was as follows:
10th March 1920 - 1k to 20k revalued to rubles (1k=1R)
10th March 1920 - 25k to 10R used at their face value
8th April 1921 - 25k, 35k, 50k and 70k withdrawn from use
10th December 1921 - 15k and 20k withdrawn from use
15th March 1922 - 1k to 14k revalued to rubles (1k=10.000R)
15th March 1922 - 1R, 5R, 7R and 10R revalued as follows: 1R=10.000R
1st January 1923 - 1k to 14k used at their face value
1st January 1923 - 1R, 5R, 7R and 10R devalued to kopecks, i.e 1R=1k
The imperial Arms stamps were finally withdrawn from use on March 31, 1923.

I can add that that the 15 k and 20 k are found on covers unofficially or semi-officially revalued after 15th March 1922, especially in Nikolaev
province. There was also an official revaluation of the Imperial Arms definitives in Turkestan. See e.g. BJRP #70, 47-53, although this list can be
essentially supplememted and revised today.

Revalued Arms
Hi Vasia, Alexander
Thanks very much. Gary Combs also provided an answer. I searched my past ROSSICAs, found the Lobachevski translation published in ROSSICA, and
noticed that it says the 1 kop to 14 kop were revalued to only 1 kop = 1,000 R instead of the 1 kop = 10,000R that had always been in use.
Were there specific dates that the RSFSR Science and Arts pictorials were devalued?
Thanks again for your help.

Randy,
that was a typo and it was corrected in the errata to the catalogue published in Rossica Journal 104/105.
Regarding the RSFSR second definitive issue:
1. There was a revaluation of the 200R and the 300R stamp to 2000R and 3000R respectively on March 27, 1922
(presumably until September 1922, according to Zagorskiy).
2. There was a nominal devaluation of the 100R, 250R and 1000R stamps to 10R, 25R and 100R
between July and December 1922 in the Nikolaev guberniya (Ukraine).
Alexander has published very interesting articles on this later use in ANZAC's journal "POCHTA".

Hi Varisa,
Thanks again.
Interestingly I was just this moment wondering about the revaluation and devaluation of the RSFSR second issue. I then decided take a break from it
(because I didn't know the answer) to look at my email. And there your answer was. Perfect timing!
I don't have a copy of Zagorskiy but I'll certainly have to get one.
I have read Alexander's article in POCHTA on the revaluation in Nikolaev guberniya. Fascinating stuff - at least to me.

Hi Randy,
Lyapin's catalogue also mentions the revaluation of the 200R and 300R stamps and prices them on cover. The date span of this revaluation that he gives
is: 23 March - 10 June 1922, i.e around 2 1/2 months.
