Registration Rates Questions
I received a spreadsheet the other day from a non-member in Australia. He has a collection with some holes in it - primarily in regards to
registration rates from Russia and localities to Australia.
The attached spreadsheet shows postcards sent to Australia from the late 19th Century to 1946. Specifically, the collector is looking for information
where stamps were removed (indicated by a ? in the postage column), and registration costs for the registration letters.
From the collector:
The two cards where stamps have been removed are those with a question mark, i.e. #8 and 16. All others are complete.
5 registered are letter L1 and cards #10, 12, 13 & 14. No others registered. Maybe sometimes registration fee was paid in cash not stamps and
registered mark acts as a receipt of sorts. Are external postage rates the same for all over Russia? Possibly there is an eastern route cost (via
Vladivostok) and a western route cost (via Europe), I don't know.
Thanks,
Jeff
