General Miller issue

I believe in the past few years Rossica published an article with pictures of the General Miller issue.

Attempts searching the archives have been without success.

Can any member direct me to that article? thanks

Is this what you are thinking of:

Here are some different stamps, too:

General Miller

Thank you for the response. However in my mind there was an article I thought in Rossica describing these stamps and their history of issue.

I don't remember any article like that and couldn't find one in the literature database either. What is there to say about this issue? It's a fantasy issue...

There is much to say about a fantasy issue!

Dismissing an issue because it is a fantasy is missing the point. Why issued, for what purpose, by whom, printed by whom, distributed by whom, etc. etc.? There is a story behind every issue..

Sorry, I formulated that poorly. Sure, for some fantasy issues we know quite a bit about how they came to be, but for THIS issue, the fact that it's a fantasy issue seems to be just about the only thing that's known about it.

I looked and was unable to find using normal search terms. There is, however, a lot of material found in the journal on the Armies in and around 1919 that might provide some insight into what you are looking for.

The General Miller issue was noted in Rossica # 57 as a fantasy issue printed in Archangelsk.

For a through discussion and listing of Russian fantasy issues Rossica #55 and 57 is must reading.

Even if your are not interested in this topic reading the archives of Rossica is a worthwhile educational experience. The issues of the 1950's were written by the titans of the golden age of Russian philately

The matter is rather complicated as one mixes occasionally pure fantasy or bogus stamps with those prepared but not issued because of changing military/political situation. I hope the collectors will be able to read already in this year some new and documented information concerning the General Miller issue.
