In regards to the question about the 1955 airmail overprint

Here is the info on the 1955 airmail overprints from the Zagorsky catalog (see attached images). The regular stamp is priced at only 400 rubles. The variety without a dash before "Moscow" is priced at 15,000 rubles. "Type III" is priced at 10,000 rubles. The types are distinguished by the length of the text in the top line. In type 1 it is 13.7 mm; in type 2 it is 14.2 mm; in type 3 it is 15 mm

Thank you very much for this. It looks like Scott could do a bit better with this entry.

Does this mean that the Red overprint 1 ruble I have is wrong/fake? It appears that the 1 was only carmine and lower down, whereas the one I show here is red and more centered.

I wish I knew, but I don't. Maybe somebody else knows.

Your middle stamp is in fact a fake - see G.Shalimoff's article on the issue and its forgeries in Rossica Journal No 89, pp 52-54. Similar fakes were created on both the 1R and 2R stamp.

Thank for this. It's both good and bad to know. I was hoping I actually had 5 duplicates.:(
