Another fake #1
Seems that the Samovar here has dwindled to nothing, leaving those of us not on Facebook out in the cold. Oh well. Couldn't resist this one.

offered by Samwells-covers. It is either a trimmed 1865 10k (suggested by
the color) or a trimmed #2. It is dirty and has a small hole. The back is so scruffy, I can't make up my mind about the "watermark", if it really has
one
or not, which would, of course decide the matter.
I wrote rather nicely to them that having this up was not doing their
reputation any good, and got two VERY huffy replies -- they threatened
"action" if I contacted them again. Amusingly, the automatic offer system
the proceeded to offer me a discount of L2000. Don't think I've ever
bought from them -- most of their material is over-priced. But at the same
time I am not aware of them as a major source of phony items.
Anyone else have experience with them?
