Scott # 8 - plate flaw

oldteddy - 12/27/2010 at 16:29

Out of about 10 stamps that I identified as Scott # 8, three have an ink spot between outer and inner frames at the upper left corner. I vaguely remember that this flaw has been described somewhere in the Journal, or other sources. Is it true or I dreamt it up, and if it is true - could anybody reference me to the source(s)? Thank you.

This variety is mentioned by Lobachevsky - 5Bb.

It is valued at about 30% more than the normal stamp.

RSFSR - I found Shalimoff's translation in the 94/95 Journal (1978), varieties of this stamp on page 32, there is no 5Bb. Am I looking at a wrong place?

You can find the reference in the "Errata to the Shalimoff translation..." that was published in the 104/105 Journal, page 65. :)

In used condition this variety is valued at 4X the valuation of the regular stamp.

Thanks a lot, vasia, it was the most comprehensive answer.
